Spread the gospel, not the gossip.
I mean how did the romans know about Jesus ? and how were they able to completely capture Jesus to crucify him? My point is, the girl knew who I was and she started the chain of gossip. I can't really pin point the exact person who started gossiping about Jesus because in the end everyone knew and a certain someone already wanted him to be dead! and of course someone part of Jesus', close circle knew of this and thought he should try and get something out of it.
Gossip - lies, get this, this is the definition of gossip, is to have a casual or unconstrained conversation or reports about other people, typically involving details that are not confirmed as being true. What was that ?, things that are not true!,
gossiping about others is deadly,
James 3:6 says, and the tongue is a fire, a world of unrighteousness. the tongue is set among our members, staining the whole body, setting on fire the entire course of life, and set on fire by hell.
In the case of our savior Jesus, this was all part of a great and purposeful victory for us. That he did. Definitely not in our case, gossiping just isn't good.
Once you start gossiping, you ruin the persons reputation and later on you are filled with guilt.
Let's take a look very briefly of the life of Judas after he sold Jesus to the romans. He was filled with such regret, he even went back to the men and told them to tell them that he now has innocent blood on his hands and he tried giving back the money he got. He ended up just throwing it.
Mathew 26:16 From then on Judas watched for an opportunity to hand him over.
After Judas got the silver, 30 pieces of silver, which is now equivalent to about $200 usd
He waited for the perfect moment to give him out.
If you think about this, when you gossip about someone, you're trading it for something.
It could be a friendship or trust. It could be a life for a moment of "popularity"
See Judas proceeds to even make this whole plan with the chief of priests, with verse 48 "whoever I kiss is the man, arrest him."
In Mathew 27:3-5, we read of Judas' regret and he commits suicide.
Guilt and shame that come from gossiping are treachourous.
Do be careful of what you say, for you it may not be considered gossiping, but at what costs are you spreading such information.
There is also unforgivenss for the one who became a victim to the gossip,
So I ask you this, at what cost are you gossiping?
Listen I've encountered countless amount of people who just want to spread gossip, and it's ok that at one point you got tangled all up in that mess, but it's definitely not ok that you stay there.
Spread the gospel, not the gossip.
In the beginning, I talked about growing up in gossip. I'll just say that women were good at spreading gossip but terrible at apologizing and asking for forgiveness.
Understandable. There was so much gossip being spread around that now that they'd even create a pact within themselves that they would never talk to those women again, because they're poor, or their children fail at school etc. I could name so many things, but I won't.
Gossip is everywhere.
What if we changed that, and just spread the gospel instead?
I am positive that we've all thought about, well what if Judas wouldn't have sold Jesus to the roman soldiers like that?
Would there have been a different outcome for that?
Even so, God's plan would still have gone through.
Also what if Judas would've repented and asked for forgiveness and he wouldn't have ended his life?
See I honestly couldn't tell you what that outcome would've looked liked, because God the author of this particular story, wanted to point out what things like this can do to you. Think about it anytime you do something bad that can bring up the feeling of shame or guilt you become venerable to the enemy.
The enemy wants to see you drown in sin and end up in the worst place ever, and he wants you to stay there.
Judas was very vulnerable to the enemy in that moment. He heard the enemy begin to whisper in his ear and he gave in into it, and stayed in it. The bible tells us that during the last supper, Judas was possessed by the enemy. It simply starts with a thought.
Jesus answered, “It is the one to whom I will give this piece of bread when
I have dipped it in the dish.” Then, dipping the piece of bread, he gave it to Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot. '
'As soon as Judas took the bread, Satan entered into him. So Jesus told him,
“What you are about to do, do quickly.”
'But no one at the meal understood why Jesus said this to him. '
'Since Judas had charge of the money, some thought Jesus was telling him to buy what was
needed for the festival, or to give something to the poor.
As soon as Judas had taken the bread, he went out. And it was night. '
John 13:26-30
See it was all part of God's plan, because Jesus already knew what was going to take place.
In the case of our gossiping we don't know who is gossiping about who. That's a really good sign. You don't need to know or get involved. Just know that when someone does they are actively trading some false information for only they know and God knows.
So, what if whenever someone wants to start gossiping about someone, you choose to not listen and rather share something God revealed to you about gossiping. You might've heard that saying " (enter gossip), but I'll definitely be praying for them." well that is still gossiping my friend, just steer that conversation to God.
Believe me that you won't feel regret or shame after and it'll be the best thing you ever do.
I know it also happens in church, I won't lie to you, I've often felt like I couldn't be someones friend because I had nothing to gossip about. Even if I wanted to, yet I felt so uncomfortable around them. If you've ever felt that, you've been convicted. That means you must steer away from them, you don't have to be friends with them.
You don't have to be friends with gossipers, be friends with real Christians. Who know and understand the gospel in which they live out daily. Yes! they exist! Just carefully observe in how they walk, and talk to others and how they treat their fellow sisters and brothers in Christ.
It's almost as if gossipers are exactly like tabloids and magazines that no one ever reads unless they have this over exaggerated cover with some obnoxious news. Honestly not really good because over time it just gets old, because usually it's about the same people.
Going back to the end of Judas's life. He didn't know that him selling Jesus over to be crucified would do something very tragic to him. Mentally he was not thinking, he let satan overtake him and make decisions for him. He was blinded with money and he was brainwashed into thinking that the money he would receive from it, would something more amazing than to try and do something else to earn money. See when you want fast friends, or fast money, or fast "frame"' or fast anything really, that is absolutely not what you're getting. You will get into a really deep hole of regret and shame in the end. It all caught up to Judas really fast.
There are so many movies about people that lie or literally pretend to be someone else and of course they all have the same outcome. They all get CAUGHT. That's reality. You partake in such things, you will receive the consequences for it. There is nothing God doesn't see. So it's really best that you just keep your eyes on the Lord. DOn't worry about who likes you or doesn't. Don't worry about where money will come from. Don't worry about having a certain type of friends. Give it to God, he will take charge of all it for you. He is our provider.
So, I have come this far to share this verse with you,
1 Corinthians 13:1 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongdoings.
I want you to focus on the last part of this verse, keeps no record of wrongdoings. Spreading information that isn't true about someone, whether it's coming from a place of anger, or someone did something to you and you can't wait to share it. It's something that Jesus wouldn't do. Something Jesus did right away, is forgive. He chose to have compassion, rather than to get angry at someone for saying things they didn't even fully understand.
I love reading this verse and switching out the word love, with Jesus. Jesus is love. So I read it in this way.
Jesus is patient, he is kind, he does not envy, he does not boast, he is not proud, he is not rude, he is not self seeking, he is not easily angered, and he keeps no record of wrongdoing.
So if he does these things, then who are we to keep a record against someone?, who are we then to turn around and start spreading lies and information about a situation we don't fully understand, especially if you were an outsider to the situation.
We shouldn't feel the need to spread lies or even keep record of someone offending us.
As humans we tend to create a list of people we shouldn't forgive, and that at all cost we should never be around them. So as a defense mechanism one can start to gossip about them just because they absolutely do not like them. These lists will
determine what your next action will be towards this person who you used to
have a friendship with? this is what you’ll continue to use against them,
just so you’ll be protected but you'll be alone?,
this is no attack, trust me I used to do this, I had that list.
The top
five were my dad, my mom, my sister, and my two brothers, and I can tell you
honestly that these people on my list or yours aren’t the problem, the problem
is that you need healing in your heart,
you need to find your identity in Christ, you need to pursue that
relationship that God wants you to have with him, he’s been waiting for you. Jesus
is the answer.
When you go to God, he will heal everything that needs to be
healed in you, so don’t be scared of not knowing what to ask for or what to
say,
See when we come to God , when we ask him like yes or no
questions, he doesn’t give answers based on your past or how many times
you’ve failed him, how many sins you’ve committed, what you deserve because
since we are being real, we don’t deserve anything God gives us, we just
don’t.
God does answer based on his Love, Grace and Mercy and until we
realize this we won’t be able to accept what God has given us, it's just who he
is.
'Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. '
Hebrews 13:8
God doesn't change
Romans 9:15 For he says to Moses " I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion"
God can choose on who to have mercy.
If he chose to have mercy on you, then you should show mercy to others. We aren't God and we can't choose who to love or who to have patience with.
'Whoever does not love does not know God, because God
is love. '
1 John 4:8
'Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister,
whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have
not seen. '
1 John 4:20
🎤
Shouldn’t you know by now that God loves you? And don’t you
know by now that God loves every single person on this earth as well?
You can
rest well assured that there are consequences for your actions and others as well, so
if a friend has betrayed you in anyway, shouldn’t you just let God do what he
does best? and let him defend you, and sort out the situation, by receiving wisdom from him.
Give the love God has given you, to them as well.
I know easier said than done, God can handle the weight of this, but will you allow him to help carry it for you?
Something will never go right if God isn’t the foundation of
it.
Relationships of any kind won't work if God isn’t the center,
did you know that by chance?, or did you forget?
I'll tell you this, God has and
will continue to remind you of his love for you.
He sent his only son on earth, to do what?, to carry the
weight of the world's sin on his shoulders!
He died on the cross for you and me!, that
still leaves me in awe but at the same time it makes me so happy and my eyes begin
to be filled with tears, because this amazing God who created you and me , loves
us!
so much that he poured his love grace and mercy on us, and not just for one
minute or one day, but every single day!!
